Topic Description :
What are the Latest Trends and Protocols for Dental Ceramics and Luting Cements Today? “Hands-on”
Abstract:
When speaking of biomimetic dentistry, unfortunately composite restoration does have its limitation when clinicians would like to be conservative in their restorative approach. However, with advancing technology and materials, it is no longer necessary to consider extensive preparation or tooth removal in order to accommodate indirect restorations.
With modern all-ceramic materials, preparation guides can be minimalistic while the material can be reliably strong. We can now offer our patients the conservative indirect restoration that is reliable, esthetic and long-lasting in the safest possible way.
This course will give a comprehensive overview of the latest ceramics used for metal-free restorations. From material science towards indications and clinical relevance, both glass-ceramics and oxide ceramics are covered. This well-structured presentation will help clinicians to optimally select the ideal all-ceramic material in each on the clinical scenario. In the second half of the lecture, participants will be able to work out the best luting protocol for each material and clinical case.
Learning Objectives:
- All-ceramics material science
- Indications for glass- and oxide ceramics
- Clinical relevance of all-ceramic material selection
- Conservative preparation design for ceramics
- Pre-treatment of the restorative materials and teeth
- Choosing the appropriate luting cement
