Gray Zones & Red Flags in OPMDs and Oral Cancer: A case-based round-table
Session Description:
This dynamic round table session will engage clinicians in the real-world challenges of diagnosing and managing oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Through case-based discussions, participants will critically evaluate diagnostic dilemmas, explore emerging adjunctive tools, share insights on optimizing clinical decision-making, and navigate the post-cancer therapy complications. The session encourages interactive dialogue, aiming to bridge the gap between suspicion, confirmation, and action in oral oncology.
Course Objectives:
- Recognize clinical and histopathological hallmarks of OPMDs and OSCC to improve early detection and risk stratification.
- Discuss evidence-based approaches for surveillance, AI utilization, intervention, and referrals based on lesion risk profiles and patient-specific factors.
- Understand the role of the dentist and oral medicine specialist in the prevention and management of head and neck complications tied to cancer therapy.
