ENDODONTIC MICROSURGERY: Piezo Driven Approach (Hands-on)

Course Objectives:

  • The introduction of the Surgical Operating Microscope, the use of Piezo surgery and the new biocompatible materials.
  • The most important developments which contributed to improve and increase the long term prognosis from 50% like it was before to more than 95% today.
  • The several steps of the surgical endodontics procedure must be followed properly and completely to guarantee a successful therapy.
  • These steps will be discussed in detail during the course and the participants will have the opportunity to apply them during the work-shop on natural teeth mounted on special anatomically designed models.

Course Program:

09.00- 10.00 The Anesthesia
10.00- 11.00 Management of soft tissue: flap design, incision and atraumatic flap elevation and   retraction
11.00-11.30 Anatomical considerations: inferior alveolar nerve,  mental nerve, greater palatine artery,            maxillary sinus
11.30-12.30 The control of the bleeding
12.30- 13.30 The bony crypt, locating of the root apex utilizing Piezo surgery tips and Crypt management
13.30- 14.30 The root-end bevel and root-end preparation, Piezo root-end preparation      vs hand-piece preparation
14.30- 15.00 Root-end filling  materials: MTA, Bioceramics
15.00-15.30 Microscopic Suturing techniques and Post-operative care.
15.30- 17.30 Hand-on: The participants will be able to do microscopic apical surgery using Piezo device

And tips starting from osteotomy till they reach the final step of retro-fill

Bio:

Dr. Iyad Ghoneim is an oral implantologist and an oral surgeon working in private sector in Saudi Arabia. He received his Master degrees from Danube University form Austria. He has as well a specialist degree in oral implantology form the German Association of Oral Implantology. An international speaker that has introduced many lectures and courses in many topics related to surgery and implantology.  He is passion of sharing his experiences with other dentists.
