Cutting-Edge Pediatric Dentistry: Esthetic Crowns, LSTR, Space Maintainers, and Effective Profound Anesthesia
Introduction:
Pediatric dentistry continues to evolve with the introduction of advanced restorative materials, chairside space maintainers, and modern anesthesia delivery systems. This comprehensive workshop is designed to enhance clinicians’ knowledge and clinical skills in managing primary teeth. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on training, participants will gain practical experience in zirconia, Preveneered, and Bioflx crowns, and LSTR techniques, as well as updated methods for delivering comfortable and effective local anesthesia in children.
The course aims to empower practitioners with the confidence and competence necessary to provide high-quality, minimally invasive, and child-friendly dental care.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, attendees would be able to:
- Understand the indications, advantages, and clinical steps for Zirconia, Preveneered, and Bioflx crowns in primary teeth.
- Perform proper tooth preparation and placement of Zirconia, Preveneered, and Bioflx crowns through hands-on application.
- Understand the proper selection, fabrication, and application of chairside space maintainers in pediatric dentistry
- Apply LSTR techniques as an alternative treatment for non-vital primary teeth.
- Describe the types, application techniques, and critical safety considerations of local anesthesia in pediatric patients.
- Improve overall treatment efficiency and patient cooperation by employing updated, child-friendly clinical techniques.

Dr. Nizar Mujalid

Bio:
Dr. Nizar Mujallid has completed his bachelor degree in dental surgery from King Abdulaziz University in 2011. He finished his Saudi Board of Pediatric Dentistry Program in 2018. He is now working as a consultant in pediatric dentistry at King Fahad General Hospital in Jeddah. He is involved in the training process of the Saudi Board certificate in Pediatric dentistry. He is a member and organizer in Saudi Dental Society.
Dr. Sundar Ramalingam
BDS, MDS, FFDRCS, FDSRCPS , Ph.D.
Bio:
Dr. Sundar Ramalingam is an associate consultant and clinical faculty in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) at the College of Dentistry and Dental University Hospital, King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Originally from Chennai in the southern part of India, Dr. Sundar has lived in Saudi Arabia for almost 15 years, contributing to various academic, research, and clinical professional commitments.
After completing his Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery and Master’s in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in India, he acquired his Fellowship in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine from the Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Subsequently, he was awarded a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and completed his doctoral research, resulting in a PhD award from Pacific University, India.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sundar has been associated with the three core pillars of medical and dental specialties: academics, clinical practice, and research. This has enabled him to widen his horizons of knowledge by sharing it and also seek answers to clinical challenges through research. With more than 50 publications and a handful of ongoing research projects, Dr. Sundar is one of his institution’s highly cited staff members and sees that as an encouragement to move forward and achieve more.
Dr. Sundar considers working with a team, among juniors or seniors, his best personal strength.
