Cosmetic Contour Using Composite: The Layering Techniques (Hands-on)
Course Objectives:
- Composite veneers as a solution for smile corrections, with the advantage of immediate results
- Learning to reproduce the aspects of natural dentition and to allow controlled effects of translucency and right opacity, resulting in superior outcome
- Perform an anterior layering technique for composite
- Reconstruction of a peg lateral tooth.
- Proceed with the correct protocol for finishing and polishing in anterior teeth.
- Mastering the layering technique which involves deep acquaintance with adhesive procedures, material handling, and dental anatomy, making it complex and time-consuming.

14.30 – 15.30 | Check if is possible to use Ivoclar composites |
15. 30 – 16.00 | Importance of sandblasting for cosmetic contour |
16.00 – 16.30 | Use of palatal index for composite reconstruction. |
16.30 – 17.30 | Reconstruction of 22 peg lateral |
17.30 -18.30 | Finishing and polishing of the veneers will be performed, pointing to the best polishing materials and the perfect sequence. |

Dr. Ronaldo Hirata
DDS, MS, PhD
Bio:
Ronaldo Hirata is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomaterials at New York University, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Cariology. He has published over 100 papers in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. His first book, TIPS, was published in three languages, and his second book, SHORTCUTS, was also published in three languages.
Dr. Hirata just launched his new book, “Recipes for Composite Restorations,” from Quintessence Publishing in three languages, including English. This textbook provides “recipes” with the ingredients and instruments necessary to execute 26 restorations.
