15000 attendees, Dubai Derma marked another milestone of success!

Dubai Derma exhibition fills the gap between theory and practice. 11,500sqm was covered for the exhibition providing 500+ Companies to display their cutting edge technologies and medical devices that gives participants the chance to learn about these new technologies and apply the theories they get from the parallel conference, all for the goal of a better medical service.

Dubai Derma marked another milestone of success with the attendance of the world’s top specialists and doctors. More than 15,000 Visitors and Conference Participants viewed the spectacular display of an extensive range of products and equipment that was showcased during the three-day exhibition.

Practical Workshops

Practical Workshops is for companies to give comprehensive demonstration of their laser machines and equipment’s new features and functionality. Several Exhibitors took advantage of the opportunity and conducted a workshop to highlight their presence during the three-day show, reach their target market and subsequently sell their products, equipment and machine.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Department of Information, inaugurated today the 17th edition of Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai Derma 2017) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum was accompanied with heads of international associations, delegations, and prominent dermatologists and specialists in the field.Following the opening ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum took a tour in the exhibition area and visited various local and international companies that came to showcase their up-to-date technologies, latest skin care products and advanced equipment in the field of dermatology, laser, and plastic surgery.On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University, and Conference Chairman of Dubai Derma welcomed all of the reputable speakers and specialists who came from all over the world to participate in Dubai Derma. He said: “This year, we have dedicated three different halls for parallel scientific sessions. The conference will discuss new skin diseases, pathogens, new diagnoses and treatments, and it will present difficult cases divided into sessions for graduate doctors and specialists who have difficulty in diagnosing these cases.”

He continued on saying: “The scientific program was designed to enrich the participants knowledge with the latest scientific research and introduce them to the latest developments and techniques in the dermatological and laser field, where the scientific program will discuss many skin diseases including vitiligo, psoriasis, acne, allergies, skin cancer, as well as various cosmetic treatments. ”

Dr. Galadari concluded by saying: “Dubai Derma exhibition fills the gap between theory and practice. Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Fouzan, Secretary General of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology,said during his opening speech: “Over the last years, Dubai Derma has proven to be the annual international dermatology conference to go to. It has become the must-attend event to learn about the latest innovations and get up-to-speed on how to leverage new technologies in dermatology and laser.”

He continued on saying: “Dubai Derma has a great list of international speakers and participants from the entire spectrum of the dermatological sciences, who will lead the scientific sessions and training programs. The scientific programme will focus on the new uses for laser treatments, best practices for treating the changes that occur on the skin because of aging, hair loss, skin cancer, esthetic and cosmetic dermatology.”

It maximizes scientific and practical benefits for attendees and brings participating doctors closer together in order to exchange different views and medical information. From his side, Dr. Oumeish Oumeish, Secretary General of Dubai Derma and International Academy of Medical Specialisation said in his speech at the opening ceremony: “This meeting is important as it aims to encourage the development of dermatological sciences through innovative lectures and symposia, and enhancing personal and professional relationships between scientists from many countries. The scientific committee has developed an unparalleled and innovative programme for this meeting for a wide variety of topics that are core to medical, surgical and esthetic dermatology.”

Asia-Pacific Dermatology Conference to Be Held In Dubai Next Year

DUBAI, 28th March, 2017 — The second day of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference & Exhibition (Dubai Derma) discussed the latest medical developments in psoriasis, severe immunological conditions and rare cases, highlighting 25 case studies from Europe, Africa and Asia known for being some of the rarest and most difficult to diagnose. The participating doctors presented these cases, while the conference highlighted the correct diagnosis methods and the best available treatments to deal with such cases.

Dr. Hassan Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University, Consultant Dermatologist, Head of Scientific Committee, Dubai Derma, pointed out that Dubai was chosen to host the 11th Asia-Pacific Dermatology Conference after competing with many countries and cities, thanks to the great potential and capabilities that characterize the UAE in general and Dubai in particular.

Dr. Galadari noted that the 11th edition of the Asia-Pacific Dermatology Conference will be held in conjunction with the Dubai Derma Conference. He added that hosting this prestigious event will increase the number of participants from 1,500 to 2,000, varying from experts and doctors to specialists and professionals. This will also lead to a similar increase in the number of exhibitors and manufacturers of medical devices in the parallel exhibition.

According to Dr. Galadari, preparations are underway to host this conference next year. There will be many meetings ahead for the organizing committee of the Asia-Pacific Dermatology Conference to guarantee this coming edition will be one to remember.

Dr. Galadari also talked about the Dubai Derma Day 2 activities, where the scientific sessions emphasized the importance of tightening the control on the use of cosmetics, especially laser, Botox and fillers, to avoid any possible medical errors occurring due to wrongfully using them.

The conference also discussed how to support training doctors and those applying for various training programs such as the Arab Board and other specialized local training programs. The event also focused on raising the efficiency of participating doctors in their specialties to allow them to obtain the Arab and local boards.

Dr. Galadari also stressed on the dire need to organize more workshops for doctors, especially hands-on workshops where doctors can acquire critical skills in the field of skin, plastic, and laser surgery, learn about medical ethics, share their expertise, and work together for best treatment of other cases.

The conference also discussed the problems of hair-loss affecting both men and women, which is prevailing in men cases than women. Dr. Galadrari mentioned that there are three types of Alopecia, the first affects specific parts of the body, often in the head, and affects about 3% of the population, which can be treated using creams, injections, or sprays.

The second type, according to Dr. Galadari, is full Alopecia that results in full head baldness and affects less than 2% of the population. This type needs special medications to control the immune system in the body. He pointed out that the third Alopecia of the whole body, which is very rare and affects between 0.5% – 1% of population. This type negatively affects the patients’ morale and we are yet to find a full cure for it!

396 million dirhams business deals sealed in Dubai Derma 2017

The 17th edition of the Dubai Derma Conference and Exhibition concluded after three days of great success that has witnessed the participation of 15,000 visitors and participants over the scope of the 3 days.

Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Derma said: “Dubai Derma has succeeded over the past years to attract local and international doctors, professors, and specialists in the field of dermatology and skincare. Today, we are proud that Dubai Derma has succeeded to become the largest specialized event in dermatology and laser in the MENASA region, and we look forward to let it be the largest in the world.”

Dr. Al Madani announced that the number of business deals sealed during the past three days reached 396 Million dhs. He also said: “The exhibition has witnessed an increase in exhibition size that has reached to 20% compared to last year with the participation of 540 companies from 85 countries, and the largest country pavilion was for South Korea.”

It is worth mentioning that the largest local stand was this year for AMICO and Kalium, and the largest international stand was for Valeant.

The scientific committee for Dubai Derma announced today the recommendations for the 17th edition of the Dubai Derma Conference. Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Chairman of the Dubai Derma Conference and Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University announced:

To renew the Arab Board of Dermatology membership every 10 years, similar to the American board. This recommendation is to be submitted to the Supreme Council of the Arab Board for discussion during its next meeting in the Kingdom of Bahrain next November.

To increase medical facilities supervisory cadre working in the field of cosmetics, and to strengthen the scientific requirements for obtaining a license to practice the profession both for doctors and technicians.

To tighten the controls on the use of cosmetic treatments, especially laser, Botox and fillers to avoid medical errors and malpractice.

To support trainees and doctors registered for training programs such as the Arab Board and other local specialized programs. To ensure that these training courses are raising the efficiency of doctors in their specialties.

The importance of organizing more workshops for doctors and specialists especially workshops in the field of skin, plastic surgery, and laser, and that is to exchange experience, increase knowledge and ensure medical ethics are followed and abided.

The organizing committee of the Dubai World Dermatology & Laser Conference & Exhibition (Dubai Derma) requested from the International league of Dermatological Society to enter the bid for hosting the World Congress of Dermatology 2023 in Dubai. Dubai’s application will be voted for at the next edition of the conference in Milan, 2019.

Dr. Hassan Galadari, Professor of Dermatology at the UAE University, Consultant Dermatologist, Head of Scientific Committee, Dubai Derma: ‘The third and final day of the conference was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology, to urge Arab countries to vote in favor of Dubai’s application to host this event.’

He pointed out that all the attendees emphasized the benefits of hosting this global event in Dubai. Especially that UAE in general and Dubai in particular have succeeded over the years in hosting many international exhibitions in various fields, thanks to its amazing infrastructure and strategic location.

Dr. Galadari went on saying that the GCC League of Dermatology meeting will be held in Dubai in November, though its agenda has not been fully finalized yet. However, the hosting of the 11th Asian Dermatological Congress next year and Dubai’s application to host the World Congress of Dermatology 2023 will have top priority on the agenda of the meeting.
