Beyond the Scan: Mastering CBCT Interpretation for Dental Excellence

November 10, 2025 by

Beyond the Scan: Mastering CBCT Interpretation for Dental Excellence

Course Objectives:

This interactive workshop explores the transformative role of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in modern dentistry, with a particular focus on how advanced imaging elevates endodontic diagnosis and treatment. Designed for general dentists and specialists alike, the session will highlight how CBCT provides critical insights across a wide range of clinical disciplines, while emphasizing its unmatched value in managing complex endodontic challenges.

Participants will learn to harness the full potential of CBCT technology by understanding the six pillars of imaging, a framework that ensures consistently high-quality scans and accurate interpretation. Through case-based discussions and practical demonstrations, the workshop will show how CBCT reveals hidden anatomical details, clarifies diagnostic uncertainties, and guides precise, minimally invasive treatment.

Special attention will be given to avoiding common pitfalls in image interpretation, overcoming persistent myths about CBCT use, and applying a systematic approach to reading scans with confidence. Whether improving the accuracy of implant planning, enhancing surgical outcomes, or managing difficult endodontic cases, this course will provide participants with the skills needed to maximize diagnostic accuracy, improve treatment outcomes, and ultimately elevate patient care.

  1. Develop a systematic approach to CBCT interpretation that enhances diagnostic accuracy across disciplines, with special emphasis on identifying complex endodontic and anatomical variations.
  2. Understand and apply the six pillars of imaging to optimize scan quality, minimize artifacts, and ensure reliable diagnostic outcomes.
  3. Differentiate normal anatomy from pathologic low-density areas and other findings to strengthen clinical decision-making and treatment planning.
  4. Recognize the expanded applications of CBCT beyond endodontics, including implant planning, surgical guidance, and comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
  5. Enhance confidence in integrating CBCT technology into daily practice by debunking common myths, avoiding interpretation pitfalls, and applying evidence-based guidelines for patient-centered outcomes.

Course Program:

TIME TOPICS
09:00 – 10:00 Introduction to CBCT Imaging & Navigation: Acquisition Best Practices (with cases)
10:00 – 11:00 Understanding 3D Imaging Patterns & Common Pitfalls (with cases)
