Bio:

Dr. Conejo is the Clinical CAD/CAM Director at the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia PA, USA. He conducts research and has multiple publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals on CAD/CAM technology, prosthodontics and implant dentistry. Dr. Conejo has been the recipient of several awards in his field, to include the ICP Research Fellowship in Dental Restorative Materials in 2016, the PROSEC Research Award in 2022 and has lectured in over 35 countries.

Dr. César de Gregorio

DDS, MSc, PhD

 

Bio:

Dr. César De Gregorio received his dental degree from the European University of Madrid in 2006. In 2008, he completed the Endodontic Program at the European University of Madrid with Honors and received the AEDE Best Research of a Graduate Student Award. He received the Best Clinical Case Award in 2008 and the Best Oral Communication Award in 2010 by the AEDE. He served from 2009 to 2013, on faculty at the school while maintaining a private practice limited to endodontics. He became Assistant Professor of the Department of Endodontics at the University of Washington in 2013 where served as a clinical assistant professor of the department of endodontics and as an endodontist at the Center for Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. De Gregorio obtained his PhD in 2020. Actually, he serves as a member of the committee of Meetings of the IADT. He became Sub-Director of the Graduate program in Advanced Endodontics at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid-Spain) in 2016 and performs treatments in his private practice, limited to endodontics and dental trauma.

Bio:

Dr. Azim is a Tenured Professor, Chair of the Endodontic Department, and the Director of the Post-Graduate Program at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to Endodontics and he is also the Founder and CEO of Endolit and Examini

Dr. Azim earned his BDS from Cairo University, where he also did his Endodontic training. He later completed his Endodontic certificate at Columbia University, and since then, he has been a full-time Educator and a Part-Time Private Practitioner.

Dr. Azim is the recipient of the 2023 AAE Edward M. Osetek Award for outstanding educators. He is Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and has lectured all over the world. He has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several text-book chapters contributions.  He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics, and a reviewer for multiple other Endodontic Journals.

Course Objectives:

This round table discussion offers a unique and interactive learning experience designed for oral healthcare professionals eager to hone their diagnostic skills. Attendees will be divided into three groups, each guided by an expert facilitator, to engage in solving challenging clinical cases, simulating real-world oral medicine mysteries. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate, share insights, and apply critical thinking to diagnose complex scenarios. Through dynamic group interactions and expert guidance, attendees will deepen their understanding of diagnostic processes, improve problem-solving skills via proposing management modalities.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Analyze clinical data & formulate differential diagnoses through the discussion of complex clinical cases.
  2. Discuss the diagnostic processes leading to the final diagnoses.
  3. Incorporate evidence-based practices to formulate clinical decisions regarding appropriate management modalities.

  • Brief introduction of the expert facilitators & Icebreaker activity
  • Introduction to the workshop format and objectives.
14:00 – 17:00 Round Table Discussion (90 minutes) Groups A, B, C will rotate through 3 tables, each group will spend 30 minutes with the expert at each table

  • Each group will be presented with a detailed clinical case(s), including patient history, diagnosis, previous treatments, and response to topical therapy.
  • Guided by the expert/facilitator, participants will discuss the case, evaluate the effectiveness of topical therapy, and consider the criteria for transitioning to systemic therapy.
  • Facilitators will guide the discussion, emphasizing critical decision points and evidence-based recommendations.

Each group presents their conclusions and decision-making rationale.

Prof. Michele Davide Mignogna

MD

 

Bio:

Professor Mignogna is an oral medicine specialist practicing at University Hospital Federico II, Naples, IT.  He completed his degree in Medicine from the University of Naples Federico II, IT, in 1984. Then, he completed his residency in Dentistry and in Oncology at University of Naples Federico II, in 1987 and 1990 respectively. Since 2016, he is Full Professor in Oral Pathology at University of Naples Federico II.

Since 2002, Prof. Mignogna has been chief of the Oral Medicine Unit, Department of Neuroscience, Reproductive and Odontostomatological Sciences, University of Naples “Federico II” with outpatient and hospitalization activities dedicated to oral medicine.  His research interests are: oral cancer, oral potentially malignant disorders, autoimmune mucocutaneous blistering diseases, osteonecrosis of the jaws, and chronic oro-facial pain. On these topics he has published over 230 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Prof. Mignogna is the President of the Italian Society of Oral Pathology and Medicine (SIPMO) since 2019, and also the Elected President of the European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM) since 2022.

 

Dr. Abdulhameed Alsarraf

BDS, DClinDent, MRCADS, FDS RCSEng

 

Bio:

Dr. Abdulhameed is a registered specialist in Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology. He graduated from the UK with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery followed by specialty training in Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology from The University of Western Australia. He achieved the Australian Board of Oral Medicine and became a fellow of the Oral Medicine Academy of Australasia. He authored chapters and articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. He was admitted as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and he is currently the President of Kuwait Association of Oral Medicine and Facial Pain.

 

Dr. Eduardo Fregnani

DDS, PhD

 

Bio:

Dr. Eduardo Fregnani holds a degree in Dentistry from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2000), a Master’s in Stomatopathology from the State University of Campinas (2003), and a Ph.D. in Oncology from the AC Camargo Cancer Center (2008).

Currently, Dr. Fregnani is a researcher at the Research and Education Institute of Hospital Sírio-Libanês, serve as a Scientific Consultant for the Dentistry Service at the Oncoclínicas Group.  Furthermore, he is the owner of São Paulo Dental Studio, a private multidisciplinary dental clinic and postgraduate institution in Dentistry, located in São Paulo, Brazil.

He is a MASCC member since 2014 and ISOO Board member since. He served as ISOO Board member since 2019 and as the President of the International Society of Oral Oncology (ISOO) from 2021 to 2023.

Dr. Arwa Farag is an Associate Professor/Consultant of Oral Medicine/Orofacial Pain at KAUFD, Jeddah,KSA. She is also a visiting faculty at Tufts University(TUSDM), Boston,USA. Dr. Farag graduated with BDS from King Saud University, Riyadh,KSA. She completed her training in oral medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and earned her Doctor of Medical Science from Harvard University. She completed her fellowship in TMD/orofacial pain at TUSDM. Dr. Farag is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Medicine, the American Board of Orofacial Pain. She is the current treasurer of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and a steering member of the World Workshop on Oral Medicine. She is a member of the Scientific Council of the Saudi Board of Oral Medicine Training Programs and a founding member of the Saudi Society of Oral Medicine.

 

Dr. Mohammed BinDakhil

BDS, MS

 

Bio:

Dr. Bin Dakhil is the Research and Funding Programs Manager at the Saudi National Institute of Health (Saudi NIH) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Augusta University, USA. He is board-certified in Oral Medicine and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from the University of Florida and an MS in Oral Biology from Penn Dental Medicine. Dr. Bin Dakhil serves as Chair of the Abstracts Committee for the American Academy of Oral Medicine and is an active researcher and reviewer in oral medicine.

 

Dr. Konstantina Delli

DDS, MSc (Oral Medicine) MSc (Clinical Epidemiology), Dr.med.dent, PhD

 

Bio:

Dr. Konstantina Delli completed her specialty training in Oral Medicine and Pathology at the Dental School of Athens, followed by a doctoral degree at the University of Bern and a second PhD at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Additionally, she completed a three-year program in Clinical Epidemiology. DR. Delli research focuses on dry mouth, Sjögren’s disease, oral mucosal disorders, and ultrasonography of the major salivary glands. She currently work as a staff member at the Dental School of Groningen and as an Oral Medicine Specialist at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Medical Center Groningen, Netherland.
