Esthetic options and innovations in Pediatric Dentistry (Hands-on)
This workshop introduces the latest advancements in esthetic crown technology within pediatric dentistry, focusing on the restoration and rehabilitation of primary dentition. It covers crown restorations as well as the clinical application of space maintainers. Designed as an interactive, “hands-on” experience, it encompasses case studies, foundational principles, and state-of-the-art techniques for sizing, preparation, fitting, and cementation of pre-veneered, BioFlex, and zirconia crowns.
Participants will review clinical recommendations, including case selection criteria, and receive practical guidance on overcoming common challenges encountered during procedures. The session will also cover behavioral management strategies tailored for pediatric patients, along with current discussions on controversial topics such as cementation protocols, wear, durability, and emerging evidence.
Learning Outcomes:
- Master the principles of vital pulp therapy, including case selection, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Gain hands-on experience with pulpotomy procedures employing bio-ceramic materials.
- Acquire comprehensive knowledge of working with pre-veneered, zirconia, and BioFlex crowns in pediatric cases.
- Develop clinical skills for the successful placement of chairside space maintainers.
- Understand key behavioral management techniques to enhance patient cooperation and comfort.

Dr. Hassan S. Halawany

Bio:
Dr. Hassan Suliman Halawany is an Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics & Community Dentistry at King Saud University. He is also a Board Member of the King Saud University Health Company and Senior Health Insurance Consultant at the King Abdullah Institute. He earned his DrPH, MHSA, MS in Pediatric Dentistry, and MPH from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His expertise spans pediatric dentistry, dental public health, and health policy.
Dr. Nizar Mujallid

Bio:
Dr. Nizar Mujallid earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from King Abdulaziz University in 2011 and completed the Saudi Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2018. He is currently a Consultant in Pediatric Dentistry at King Fahd General Hospital in Jeddah. Dr. Mujallid is actively involved in the training of Saudi Board candidates in Pediatric Dentistry and serves as a member and organizer within the Saudi Dental Society.
